WINCHENDON - A Leominster woman was seriously injured yesterday when her car collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 140 near the Gardner city line.
The truck burst into flames as it ran off the road, but the driver, Mark Ferguson of Springfield, Vt., said he was able to escape by jumping through the flames.
Witnesses said the driver of the car, Stephanie L. Butler, 37, of Leominster appeared to have suffered multiple injuries in the accident, including fractures to the arms and legs. She was taken by Winchendon Fire Department ambulance to Heywood Hospital and later transferred by Life Flight helicopter to the UMass ...
