Feb. 17--Turkey, the historic gateway between East and West, has selected Rhode Island's GTECH to install a national lottery.
The contract, worth about $50 million over five years, comes after more than five years of behind-the-scenes work by GTECH.
It is GTECH's first Middle Eastern job.
With an ultimate installation of 5,000 lottery terminals, Turkey's system will be comparable in size to New Jersey's lottery, one of America's 10 largest. But Turkey's population, at roughly 60 million, is about eight times that of New Jersey.
