When the first editor of Airports International, Charles Cain, sat down to compile the very first edition in the spring of 1968 I feel sure that he couldn't have imagined how similar the industry's talking points would be 40 years on.
Back then the Boeing 747 was about to introduce long-haul air travel to the masses the world over. Some senior industry spokesmen thought the giant airliner would bring huge capacity problems to airports, but they merely evolved as required.
