Transparency for hedge funds is becoming a major issue due to the rapid growth of the hedge fund industry, which now accounts for more than $2 trillion under management.
On April 15, two blue-ribbon private-sector committees established by the President's Working Group released separate sets of "best practices'' for hedge fund investments. One report reflected the viewpoint of asset managers; the other report was written by investors. The two reports offer strikingly different perspectives on the need for disclosures and transparency.
