Feil family on deck for next generation.(ALL IN THE FAMILY)

Bob Feil inherited his love of boats from his father. He started out as his father's deck man as a teenager, and later raced boats himself. Then, while he worked as a Boeing mechanic during World War II, he learned to build and repair engines from a well-known outboard mechanic in Seattle.

He later translated all of this knowledge into a general repair shop he opened in 1946 at 2131 Sunset Hwy. in East Wenatchee. Bob Feil Boats & Motors, now in its third generation, has been going strong ever since.

Though Bob retired from the shop in the 1990s, he still visits the shop almost every day, said son Dan Feil, one of Bob's three sons involved in the business today.
