There are many things that bring people to the doctor. Insomnia, or difficulty with sleeping is quite a common complaint, especially in older people who need less sleep, but can't tolerate the gradual change in their body clock.
Doctors tend to have differing degrees of empathy for insomniacs, just as patients have differing degrees of tolerance. Insomnia is a mixed bag of causes and consequences. So too are the solutions.
Regardless of the circumstances, it's no joke being awake at night, and restless, while all around you are in deep, blissful slumber.
