Article: Researchers from New York University, Department of Otolaryngology provide details of new studies and findings in the area of sensorineural hearing loss.

New investigation results, 'Steroid responsive fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss due to juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma involving the cerebellopontine angle,' are detailed in a study published in International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology . "Tumors of the cerebellopontine angle (CPA) are common and represent up to 10% of all intracranial tumors. Rarely, intrinsic brainstem tumors can involve the CPA and present with auditory symptoms typical of CPA tumors such as hearing loss, vertigo and tinnitus," scientists writing in the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology report (see also Sensorineural Hearing Loss ).
