FOR rather unexpected reasons, we have been temporarily decanted fromour very spacious and many-bathroomed house into a flat, the whole of which -and I only slightly exaggerate - would fit into our home's drawing room.
This coincides with what we all refer to as the credit crunch, when the weeklyshopping bill has risen such that even those of us who habitually close oureyes when punching in the pin number have raised an eyebrow.
The predominant mood, not helped of course by those pesky tanker drivers, isone of unadulterated gloom.
