Printmaking can be incorporated into a unit of work where a thematic approach is adopted. Themes that relate to organic forms are ideally suited. Observational drawings can be developed into linear designs which can be used as the basis for the composition of the print.
Reduction printing is a form of relief printing. The ink is applied to the raised surface of the block. The areas that have been cut away will not print. The resulting print is the reverse of the area that has been cut.
