HONG KONG/DOHA -- Al Jazeera English debuted May 14, 2008 on Hong Kong's nowTV, the IPTV unit of telco Pacific Century Cyberworks.

Al Jazeera English launched as part of now TV's basic IPTV package, reaching some 882,000 subscribers. Transmission began 7pm local time with no additional charge and minimal publicity. The Doha-based news channel has been broadcast in Hong Kong via Cable TV since January 2008.
