Flooding in southern China having little impact on grain output - MCA
Shanghai. June 18. INTERFAX-CHINA - Continuous heavy rain in southern China has caused direct economic losses of RMB 20.3 billion ($2.95 billion), but has had a limited impact on grain production this year, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA).
By June 14, 860,500 hectares of crops in southern China were affected by flooding, with 90,200 hectares severely damaged. Guangdong Province and the Guangxi Autonomous Region have been the most seriously hit, with Guangxi reporting flood waters as deep as 8.7 meters.
