Thanks so much for the Sisterspeak column, "Love Yourself First" (May 2008), by Dominique Dawes. It's hard to believe a pretty, petite, young woman who had enough inner confidence (in spite of the immense pressure!) to win the gold medal at the Olympics would have a problem with self-esteem. I wish more celebrities/professional athletes would come forward and encourage people (especially young people) to take steps to build their self-esteem.
Kudos to Dominique for her honesty and bravery, and kudos to the EBONY staff for spreading the word!
