As it introduces a new U.S.-sourced pickup to stir up sales, American Isuzu Motors Inc. realizes that its U.S. factory space won't take the company much further.

Isuzu soon could be bumping its head on capacity ceilings for both of its U.S.-made products, the new Hombre pickup and its staple Rodeo sport-utility.

Isuzu begins delivering the Hombre pickup to U.S. dealers Tuesday, Jan. 9. The truck is assembled by General Motors in Shreveport, La., and is based on the Chevrolet S10.

Isuzu will get up to 25,000 Hombres a year from Shreveport. That's nearly double the 13,000 Japanese-made pickups Isuzu sold in 1995.
