With the South American winter just around the corner, Argentina is struggling to find new sources of natural gas and electricity to avoid a further deterioration of the energy shortages that have plagued the country for the past three years.
The government is considering increased imports of diesel and fuel oil from Venezuela and electricity from Brazil to cope with imminent gas and power shortages.
For the long run, Argentina is looking into the possibility of building five hydroelectric power plants jointly with Brazil and Bolivia for an additional capacity of 10,000 megawatts, according to local press reports.
