Thoughtless taxi drivers put passengers' lives at risk by motoring around with faulty brakes.
But the two vehicles have now been taken off the road and the drivers had their taxi licences suspended after being caught out in an operation by vehicle experts and police and council officers in Chichester city centre.
Inspector Phil Nicholas, from Chichester Roads Policing Unit, said: "Hackney carriages and private hire vehicles fall within one of our strategic priority groups (Occupational Road Risk) because they are driven and used for work purposes.
