ANOTHER bad week for Kim Jong Il, North Korea's puffy-cheeked and reclusive leader. His country is on the verge of famine, according to United Nations relief agencies, but the rest of the world has sent little food aid. The Korean People's Army is grumbling that the government should never have humiliated itself by holding out the begging bowl in the first place. And now Mr Kim's ex-wife apparently wants to defect.
According to South Korea's spy service, Sung Hae Rim, mother of the Dear Leader's eldest son, vanished from her Swiss flat this month and is now seeking to live in an unspecified third country, possibly South Korea. North Korea angrily denies the story, ...
