SUTTON - Swimmers headed to the town beach at Marion's Camp used to confront a large, imposing house as they headed down to Lake Singletary.
When the town beach reopens full time for the summer at the end of the week, the former Marion's House will be gone, and nothing but a pile of dirt and maybe some gravel will remain.
As blue-gray clouds approached from beyond the borders of West Sutton last night, all that remained of the house, for many years part of a Campfire Girls camp, was a tall stone chimney. An excavator swiveled around, still scooping away and moving dirt and debris.
