ONE of Ballycastle's best-known firefighters has retired.
Maurice McCambridge has spent the last 27 years giving up his spare time for the benefit of the general public.
His age now means compulsory retirement, but it may not yet be the end!
For while Maurice has had to turn in his uniform, he is hoping that a new ruling enabling members to continue their service provided they can prove their fitness, will allow him to return.
The ruling comes in this April when personnel will be allowed to take up the offer of a yearly contract - if they're fit.
Maurice reached the retirement age of 55 on January 16 and is only a few months ...
