While England secured a rather dull 1-0 victory over Paraguay in their opening World Cup fixture, the place to be on Saturday afternoon was in Arbroath, at the sports centre, where the Mini-World Cup was taking place.
After two hours of fantastic action, thrilling penalty shoot-outs and high drama, Mexico emerged as the winning team, narrowly squeezing out Italy in the final.
The event had been funded and organised by St Andrews Chruch to coincide with the World Cup in Germany and with 125 children taking part, from every school in Arbroath, there was no doubting its popularity.
