Securing Premiership survival will boost Sunderland's club coffers by at least [pounds sterling]17million, says a leading football finance expert.
That's the minimum amount extra the Black Cats will receive next season than the three teams which fell through the Premiership trapdoor last month, says Peter Hackelton, a senior manager with Deloitte's sports business group.
"In the 2008/09 season, the minimum that Premiership clubs will receive through the Central Broadcast Distribution will be [pounds sterling]30million," he said.
