Article: Kazakhstan Puts 38 Firms On Export Tax Hit List.

The Kazakh government has published a list of 38 oil-producing enterprises that will have to pay the new export tariff of $109.90/ton ($15/bbl) that came into force on May 18.

The two noticeable absentees from the list are the top two Western-owned producers: the Chevron-led Tengizchevroil joint venture, which currently produces about 350,000 b/d of crude, and the BG-Eni-operated consortium developing the giant Karachaganak field. Under their long-term contracts with the government, both producers are exempt from any additional taxes.
