RACING DEMON, which deals with doubt and dissension in the Anglican Church, is the first of a trilogy in which playwright David Hare examines major English institutions. After staging the play at the Royal National Theater, director Richard Eyre elicited fine ensemble work from a first-rate American cast at New York's Lincoln Center.
