STERLING - A discussion by the Board of Selectmen about future uses of water from the Wekepeke Reservoir ended abruptly Wednesday night when the board was informed that Clinton officials had signed a conservation restriction to protect the land around the reservoir.
Owned by neighboring Clinton but located in Sterling, the reservoir has been the center of controversy for months because of a proposed deal between Clinton and Nestle Waters of North America to bottle Wekepeke water. That deal fell through in April when Clinton selectmen pulled the plug after months of acrimony over the matter between the two towns.
