CLINTON - The Board of Selectmen approved placing a conservation restriction on the Wekepeke Reservoir Wednesday night, only to discover a new issue may disrupt the town's intent to close on the $2.7 million, 62-acre Rauscher property next week. While the land is still for sale at $2.7 million, there is confusion over whether it is, in fact, 62 acres.
If the town does not close on the Rauscher property by next week, it will forfeit $353,600 in state grant money, which would help lower the cost of the purchase. The grant stipulates that all unfinished business with the state be completed, which included the conservation restriction.
