WASHINGTON - A proposed 2.1 million-square-foot shopping and entertainment complex in Silver Spring, Md., took a big step forward on Tuesday when Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan gave his support to the project.
Silver Spring has been waiting more than 10 years for revitalization," Duncan said in statement. "Now, after six months of intensive review on this project, it is time to move forward."
Triple Five Development, which built the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., is developing the project on a 27-acre parcel in downtown Silver Spring. The proposal now requires council and planning board approval before construction can begin.
