Scientists develop white wine 'as healthy as red'
London, Jun 22 (PTI) You may now raise your glass to a healthier white wine, for researchers have developed a way to boost the anti-oxidant content of the alcoholic drink so that it has health benefits similar to red wine.
Red wine contains higher levels of antioxidants called polyphenols which are said to lower cholesterol, protect heart and prevent cancer. Polyphenols, found in the skins of grapes, are left on as the pulp ferments when making red wine but they are taken off for white.
