Alaska lawmakers have started the clock on their review of a roughly $30 billion proposal by TransCanada Corp. to build a natural gas pipeline between the North Slope and markets in lower 48 states.
The state legislature has 60 days to decide whether the Canadian pipeline giant should receive an exclusive license under the state's Alaska Gasline Inducement Act, including hundreds of millions of dollars in state subsidies, to pursue the pipeline project.
