Members of the Rockefeller family--the oldest continuous shareholders of Exxon Mobil--held a press conference in New York on Wednesday to seek support for a shareholder proposal to appoint an independent chairman of the board at the giant energy company.
Neva Rockefeller Goodwin and Peter O'Neill voiced their concern for the "long-term health" of Exxon and its effect on the global economy. They also addressed what they consider to be the company's indifference to investing in energy solutions beyond oil and natural gas.
