WASHINGTON -- Alaska North Slope (ANS) crude should be able to slip comfortably into Far East markets once final clearance has been won for exports, a new study says.
"It is pretty clear that the crude will fit in," said John Vautrain, who directed the multiclient study for consulting company Purvin & Gertz Inc.
The Clinton administration is expected to take the final steps to open the door to exports this spring.
Doubts have been raised about the prospects for ANS exports because of the crude's price and quality, but the study indicates those will not be obstacles.
