Japanese gas distributor Hokkaido Gas said Wednesday it will build a new LNG receiving terminal on the west cost of Hokkaido Island.

The $400 million terminal will start operations in December 2013 with one 180,000 kiloliter LNG storage tank planned at the port in Ishikari, located within Hokkaido prefecture.

Hokkaido Gas also aims to boost gas sales volumes by 75% to 1.92 MMcm/d (68 MMcf/ d) over the next 13 years, according to a company statement.
