In 2001, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) outlined in the document Standards for Professional Development Schools, ten standards to be utilized for evaluating teacher education programs and improving schools in our nation (NCATE, 2001). In this document, standard number 4 is "'Learning in the Context of Practice" and states--
