A classic car that once belonged to James Bond star Sir Sean Connery has been sold for more than [pounds sterling]17,000, auctioneers Bonhams said today.

The 1961 Bentley was one of 33 cars sold at a Rolls-Royce and Bentley sale at Kelmarsh Hall at the weekend.

The Bentley S2 Saloon, with an estimated price of [pounds sterling]12-15,000, was eventually sold for [pounds sterling]17,825 at the event

The Bentley's logbook shows Sir Sean - famed for his role in seven James Bond films including From Russia With Love and Goldfinger - owned it from July 5, 1974 for five years.
