Article: Safety warning after barbecue flares up.

A MAN was today praised for his actions after his gas-powered barbecue went up in flames.

The fire started after a man lit his barbecue yesterday afternoon, and put the lid on while he prepared food. When he opened the lid, the barbecue flared up.

Firefighters from Stanground were called to the house in Gretton Close, Orton Longueville, Peterborough, and put the fire out using a CO2 extinguisher. Once the heat had died down, a hose reel from the appliance was turned on the barbecue.
