The EU will impose new sanctions on Iran if Tehran fails to respond positively to a fresh offer from the big powers regarding its nuclear plan. After a visit to Iran on June 14-15 by EU foreign policy chief by Javier Solana, Tehran is considering the offer, under which it would receive a wide range of economic and political support if it suspends uranium enrichment.
EU diplomats remain pessimistic that Iran will give a positive response, but they want to give the theocracy a brief opportunity to study the offer.
