Home ace Ellison eyes Plate victory.

Two chances are always better than one and there will be the biggest celebration on Tyneside on Saturday night if Carte Diamond or Tilt wins the [pounds sterling]200,000 John Smith's Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.

They are trained by Brian Ellison, who will also be celebrating his 56th birthday, and with his family hailing from the area he and his wife Claire always make an enjoyable weekend of it at the Plate meeting anyway!

Carte Diamond has been patiently nursed back to health after sustained horrific injuries in October 2005 when being prepared for a crack at the Melbourne Cup and he was not seen on a racecourse again until March 29 this year.
