Q: Maybe you can help. I work for a judge, a great guy, former trial lawyer, who's up for reelection in two years. What can we expect and is there anything we should be doing now to get ready for the campaign?

A: Judicial races have become increasingly partisan and negative over the past decade. So prepare for the worst by indexing all of your candidate's decision (especially his controversial ones) and prepackaging rebuttals to attacks (including hits on his trial-lawyer record). And, of course, raise money--as allowed by law--so you're not outspent by a pit-bull opponent and his or her allies.
