Five finance experts were consulted about this - they came from Eley Griffiths, Fortis Investment, Pengana Capital, Bell Potter and BT Investment. They noted that in mergers, most shareholders prefer a cash bid. However, a scrip bid can offer capital gains tax rollover relief.
