CHEQUES totalling [pounds sterling]14,220 were handed out at Brighouse Charity Gala annual meeting by the chairman Mr Phil Poole.
He said the 2006 event had been a success and even more cash would have been raised if the popular duck race had not been cancelled at short notice. But Mr Poole said two organisations were interested in running the event for next year.
Ideas for the 2007 gala were discussed and an open meeting will be held on January 15 at the Salvation Army, Brighouse, at 8pm. In the meantime, ideas are being considered about how the gala can be improved.
