POLICE are stepping up efforts to target car crime after a spate of thefts in the Brighouse area.
In recent weeks, cars have been stolen after thieves broke into people's homes looking for the keys. They have then driven off in the vehicles.
Police have responded by delivering crime prevention leaflets to homes in the area warning motorists of the problem. The leaflets encourage people to keep their keys safe and out of the sight of thieves.
Motorists are urged never to leave keys in locks, on window ledges, kitchen tables or on hooks behind doors.
