A FORMER 'Brighouse Echo' journalist has retired after clocking up more than 50 years' service in the profession.
Winston Halstead started his career in journalism as a reporter with the 'Echo' in 1953.
He was taken on as a junior reporter under former editor, the late Ernest Sands.
He later worked on Bradford's 'Telegraph and Argus,' before moving to Driffield in East Yorkshire where, at the age of 26, he became editor of two local newspapers.
In 1964, he ventured into periodical publishing and launched the county magazine, 'The Ridings.' For the last 42 years he has edited the magazine, which later became 'Yorkshire Ridings Magazine,' and from which he has ...
