Although waste oil has been recognized and used as a source of energy for many years, it wasn't until recently that waste oil from automotive equipment (crankcase oil, transmission fluid and hydraulic fluid) has been generally recognized as an economically- and ecologically-advantageous way to heat facilities.
Sales of used oil-fired heaters increased 40 percent between 1992 and 1994, and this increase has continued into 1995.
