THE main summer event of the Claro Orienteering Summer league took place on Sunday in and around the alleys, steps and open spaces of Knaresborough town centre.
A welcome increase in runners, including some National Squad runners, of 30 per cent on last year's event raced over three courses, which following some detailed re-mapping of the street map allowed greater use of the Market Square and the castle grounds itself.
The profile of the race is increasing year on year as 'street orienteering' gathers momentum nationally and Knaresborough is beginning to rate alongside the Edinburgh, York, Oxford races for top level street racing.
