Kathy Whitworth has had more tour victories than any other professional golfer, male or female, since she overtook Sam Snead in 1983. Her chances of hanging on to that distinction a while longer increased on May 13 when Annika Sorenstam announced she will retire at the end of this season.
"Annika is more than capable and talented enough to do it, and she's closer to me in wins than Tiger Woods," said Whitworth, 68, an LPGA Hall of Famer with 88 titles. "I think if she wanted to keep playing, there's no doubt she'd break my record."
