Boeing Co. has to convince the U.S. Air Force that size doesn't matter.
The Air Force cited the larger size of a refueling tanker from Northrop Grumman Corp. and Airbus when it chose their plane over Boeing's for a lucrative contract in February. But the Government Accountability Office last week criticized the Air Force for not adequately explaining its size preference. The report also found the Air Force didn't properly tally savings from Boeing's smaller 767.
The contract now is expected to be rebid, giving Boeing a second shot at the potential $100-billion pact. If the Air Force sticks to its original criteria, Boeing's 767 has a good chance ...
