Mar. 7--3M TO BE HONORED IN D.C.: Vice President Al Gore will honor 3M today in Washington, D.C., for its Pollution Prevention Pays program.

President and Chief Executive Officer L.D. DeSimone and other 3M representatives will receive the award from the President's Council on Sustainable Development, established in 1993 "to develop a concrete plan for meeting today's needs without compromising the future."

The council, appointed by President Clinton, is made up of 25 leaders from business, government, environmental, civil rights and tribal organizations. One of 15 recipients, Maplewood-based 3M is being recognized for its commitment to reducing air emissions. ...
