For four days in July 2007, a delegation of IDATE Foundation member companies travelled to India to meet with players from the country's telecoms, IT and television industries (1).
By way of an introduction, it is worth remembering that India has a population of 1.112 billion, and growing at a rate of 17 million new citizens every year--with predictions indicating that it will likely catch up to China by 2035 with a total 1.41 billion inhabitants. Although India is among the least urbanised countries in the world (28.3% compared to 38.6% in China), its urban population (300 million) is second only to China's.
