In recent days, more than a hundred Israeli fighter jets conducted an exercise over the eastern Mediterranean Sea, covering a distance of some 900 miles. They were accompanied by helicopters (useful in rescuing downed pilots) and midair-refueling tankers. That, combined with the fact that Iran is also some 900 miles from Israel, led many to conclude that the exercise was preparation for a strike on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities.
