The man who held more than a half-dozen Morrison County officials hostage at gunpoint Tuesday died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to a preliminary autopsy report released Thursday.
Gordon K. Wheeler, 60, of Little Falls, Minn., was shot seven times by police, according to the Ramsey County medical examiner.
No one else was injured in the shooting, which took place in the County Board room of the Morrison County Courthouse about 10 minutes after Wheeler took several commissioners and officials hostage at the end of a meeting.
