SDLP South Antrim MLA Thomas Burns has said work to refurbish Antrim Train station, which started this week, was very welcome, but added that local people felt it was 'long overdue'.
Mr Burns said that most residents in Antrim would agree that the station is in need of a major overhaul.
"I am delighted to see work finally commence. The station badly needs better lighting, better bins, new signs, new seats and a more pleasant waiting area," Mr Burns said.
He added: "I was especially pleased to hear that the toilets will also be upgraded to allow better access for the disabled."
