Contest is a stone's throw away.

ONE of the longest running water festivals in the UK gets underway in the Lakeland village of Coniston on July 11 and 12, featuring a host of water-based fun and activities, and for the very first time, a special stone skimming competition.

The Coniston Water Festival , running over a weekend of July dates back to the 19th century and offers visitors and locals alike the opportunity to celebrate and be a part of the history and culture of the iconic lake and the surrounding area.

Bringing a contemporary twist to the proceedings this year is an exciting competition being held in Coniston for the first time - The 2nd leg of the All England Open Skimming Championships.
